HPE books a $1.2 billion AMD Helios order from Vultr

The first Helios order is a rack, not a chip: 72 MI455X GPUs, Juniper switches, and EPYC Venice CPUs. HPE also lifted its networking growth outlook.

HPE has booked its first AMD Helios order, a $1.2 billion purchase from Vultr, @MechEconomy reported on 8 October. Each rack carries 72 Instinct MI455X GPUs, HPE Juniper switches, and EPYC “Venice” CPUs. The same day, HPE’s networking growth outlook moved from 5–7% to a high-teens compound rate through fiscal 2029.

The useful point is what is being bought. A model does not run on a logo. It runs in a rack that has power, a switch, and a buyer who has already signed. Vultr is that buyer. The networking guide is the part of the story that is not the GPU.
